Building confidence, skills and opportunities in Gateshead

Gateshead Community Organisation CIC helps people facing barriers to employment build skills, make connections and take their next step. Since 2018, we have created opportunities through job coaching, supported work placements and community enterprise.

We start with each person’s strengths, interests and ambitions. Our support includes workplace confidence, practical skills, CVs and job searches, with opportunities in catering, gardening and community projects.

We welcome people who are neurodivergent, have disabilities or health conditions, and others who need extra support to access learning and work.

Our work today

Supported employability placements help people develop skills and move towards work. Our transitional placements offer meaningful activity, friendship and greater independence, including for people using direct payments.

Pie in the Sky brings our “Pies with purpose” approach to life through food, enterprise and practical learning. Alongside Deals on Meals and Wagon Way Wild Garden, it connects community activity with opportunities to gain experience.

Our impact reaches beyond employment: building confidence, reducing isolation and bringing people together.
